During the summer of 2016 while traveling, at age 14, Taylor contracted a virus that attacked her heart and placed her in the cardiac ICU. In the months that followed, she endured a number of invasive surgeries and treatments, eventually leading to a heart transplant.
At the same time, Aubrie, a healthy freshman playing on the JV soccer team, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma (stage 2b bulk disease). She spent four months being home-schooled and receiving chemotherapy. The scariest part was fearing for her life - but being different from her friends and having no hair was devastating!
Today, Taylor, Aubrie and their families are in Los Angeles, and their wish to attend the American Music Awards is coming true.
